Why this sport?
His doctor Robert Maier suggested he try skiing. "The sport helped me to see that having an amputated leg was a new challenge."

Impairment
His left leg was amputated 18 centimetres below his knee in 1992, after he was involved in a motorcycle accident in Slovenia. "The road was wet and in a left turn, I fell off my bike.
