Other information
MULTI-SPORT ATHLETE
After competing in goalball at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens and attending the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing as a reserve member of the German rowing team, he considered quitting sport following injury problems. "But when I noticed the fantastic atmosphere at the [2012] Paralympics in London, I was sad not to be there. That motivated me to start again. I started out as a swimmer, and competing at the German championships I won six gold medals in my category alone. After that I played goalball at SC Potsdam from 1998 to 2005. Then I switched to rowing and went to the [2008] Paralympic Games in Beijing, in the mixed four coxed LTA event. We finished fourth, but unfortunately I was only a reserve. When I was 31 I seriously wanted to try another sport." He has since competed in Para athletics and Para Nordic skiing.
