The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Asia Oceania Zone has announced the location and dates for their qualification tournament for the World Championships 2018 in Hamburg, Germany.

The tournament will take place in the Chinese Paralympic Training Venue in Beijing, China, between 21-29 October.

In the men’s competition, 12 teams from the Asia-Oceania region will battle for four places at the 2018 World Championships, while the five women’s teams will compete for two spots in Hamburg.

President of IWBF Asia Oceania, Saad Alazma, said: “The Asia Oceania Zone qualifying tournament has seen strong support from across the region with 12 men’s and 5 women’s teams entered. It is really exciting to see the growth of wheelchair basketball in the region.

“After the success of previous tournaments hosted in China, such as the U25 Women’s World Championships in 2015, we are looking forward to what promises to be a very competitive qualifier for the Asia Oceania Zone."
