The Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) opened inscriptions for the first edition of the Paralympic University Games, to be held at the Paralympic Training Centre in Sao Paulo, from 8-10 December.

The interested athletes have time to confirm their participation until 25 November.

“The Paralympic University Games will be an important step towards athletes’ and adapted sports’ development,” said CPB Vice-president Ivaldo Brandao.

“This event links school with high-performance training. We will start with five sports in this inaugural edition and we plan to add team sports in future editions.”

Athletics, boccia, judo, swimming and table tennis will be contested in this event. To be eligible to compete, the athlete must be 17 years old (born in 1999), be enrolled in a higher education institution recognised by the Ministry of Education and have a physical, intellectual or visual impairment.
