IPC Athletes' Council Met at Lake Thun

Last weekend, Gunten at Lake Thun in Switzerland was the meeting place for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletes’ Council. 04 Oct 2007 By IPC

During two days of intensive meetings, the Council members discussed several athlete-related topics on the agenda, including effective athlete representation within the Paralympic Movement, reports from the last IPC Governing Board Meeting and the Rio 2007 Parapan American Games in Brazil. Katarzyna Rogowiec was elected new Vice Chairperson.

Furthermore, the Council discussed their representation at the upcoming IPC General Assembly 2007 in Korea and the IPC Athletes’ Council Election during the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

An official dinner on Lake Thun, hosted by the National Paralympic Committee of Switzerland, rounded off the meeting.

The IPC Athletes’ Council is the collective voice of Paralympic athletes within the IPC and the greater Paralympic Movement. As the liaison between IPC decision-makers and Paralympic athletes, the IPC Athletes’ Council works to provide effective input into decision-making at all levels of the organization. To this end, the IPC Athletes’ Council works to ensure effective athlete representation on all IPC committees and commissions as well as to create other opportunities for athlete representation both within and outside the IPC.
