Iran preparing large squad for Asian Youth Para-Games

Iran have been putting together more and more training initiatives for para-athletes at the youth and grassroots levels.

At the last edition of the event in Tokyo, Japan in 2009, the Iranians finished in second place on the medal standings.

The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Iran is aiming to expand their sport opportunities for youth this year, and one of their initiatives is to send a big squad to October’s Asian Youth Para-Games in Malaysia.

Throughout the year, NPC Iran has run a large sports camp for junior athletes across the following individual sports: Athletics, archery, badminton, boccia, powerlifting and swimming. It has also held training sessions across several team sports, including: Goalball, wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball.
