Para Sport Awards 2025: Yan receives Rising Star Award
Para swimmer Ng Cheuk Yan has won the Rising Star award in the Para Sport Awards 2025 19 Nov 2025
Hong Kong’s Ng Cheuk Yan has been named Rising Star in the Para Sport Awards 2025 in recognition for her outstanding athletic achievements in Para swimming in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Competing in the SB6 classification, Yan won a silver medal in the women’s 100m breaststroke at the 2023 World Para Swimming Championships in Manchester, UK. She also claimed gold in the 200m breaststroke at the Para Swimming World Series in Berlin, Germany, the same year. Her success continued at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China where she earned a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke.
In 2024, the young Para swimmer captured gold in the women’s 100m breaststroke (Youth) at both the Para Swimming World Series in Bath, UK, and the Para Swimming World Series in Singapore.
Making her Paralympic debut at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games at just 14 years old, Yan became the youngest Paralympic medallist in the history of Hong Kong, China, by winning bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
The 2025 Para Sport Awards celebrate those whose efforts have contributed to strengthening the impact of Para sports worldwide. The Rising Star category recognises the achievements of an athlete under the age of 20 between 1 May 2023 to 31 March 2025 who has yet to compete at the Paralympic Games or took part in their first Paralympic Games during the period listed.
