All members of the Paralympic Movement mourn the loss of Eric Diaz, first President of the Paralympic Committee of Panama and former Member at Large of the Americas Paralympic Committee (APC), who passed away on Saturday (8 April).

Diaz practiced wheelchair basketball for many years, and worked at the Panamanian Ministry of Sports (Pandeportes) helping create equal opportunities for Para athletes.

He played a pioneering role in the development of Paralympic sports, not only in Panama, but across Central America.

“I want to extend our condolences to the Paralympic Committee of Panama and his entire family and friends,” said APC President Jose Luis Campo.

“His legacy will remain for a long time. The Paralympic Movement is in mourning for Eric Diaz.”
