The official mascots for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the white tiger Soohorang and the Asiatic black bear Bandabi, are ready to meet their friends on screen, after the Organising Committee released the first episode of their animated series.

This first episode shows how both mascots were created. ‘Soohorang,’ comes out of a sketchbook and accidently spills black ink, creating ‘Bandabi.’ Then, they have fun together playing ice hockey, curling, and snowboard on a table.

The animation can be watched via SNS (social networking services), and the next episodes will aim to get the world’s attention on PyeongChang 2018.

Sports fans and media in Rio de Janeiro can meet ‘Soohorang’ and ‘Bandabi’ in person at the ‘PyeongChang 2018 House in Rio’, which opened on Saturday (6 August) and is located at Copacabana Beach

The PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games will be held between 9-18 March and will feature up to 670 athletes competing in 80 medal events across six sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice sledge hockey, snowboard and wheelchair curling.
