Participants were introduced to the Paralympic Movement on the first day and discussed the programmes that were offered in para-sport in their respective countries.

The opening day of activities at the first-ever Agitos Foundation Winter Youth Camp kicked off on Monday (19 March) in La Cerdanya, Spain.

The camp’s aim is to train participants to develop and implement Paralympic youth winter sports programmes in their own countries, and it is being co-financed by the European Union’s Youth in Action programme, the EU and Charity and Sport.

Participants were introduced to the Paralympic Movement on the first day and discussed the programmes that were offered in para-sport in their respective countries.

They were also given the leadership tools and knowledge about equipment so they could know what to offer in their hometowns and how they could help boost para-sport at the grassroots level.

Camp participants hail from Azerbaijan, Serbia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey, and the programme is being co-ordinated by Play and Train, a European organization that facilitates workshops for young athletes, as well as Freewhite from Italy.

The Agitos Foundation is the development arm of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement.
