Top moment
While Republic of Korea's Park Jinho won silver and bronze at Tokyo 2020, he was still chasing an elusive Paralympic title coming into Paris 2024. At the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, he won not just one, but two gold medals, finishing ahead of star players such as Dong Chao.
His first came in the R1 men's 10m air rifle standing SH1, which he followed up three days later with gold in the R7 men's 50m rifle 3 positions SH1, scoring 454.6 points in the final to break the Paralympic record set in 2016.
"I was feeling way more nervous than when I won my (other) gold this week," said Park.
"I still don't believe this is happening. I was waiting a long time to win a gold medal in the Paralympics. Now with my second medal, I think of everyone who has helped me."
Biggest surprise
Four nations won their first-ever Paralympic shooting Para sport medals at Paris 2024, starting with silver in the R1 men's 10m air rifle standing SH1 event for Kazakhstan on 31 August thanks to Yerkin Gabbasov.
Brazil and Japan both made the podium for the first time in the R5 mixed 10m air rifle prone SH2 final. Three-time Brazilian Paralympian Alexandre Galgani won the silver, with Mika Mizuta - who came 32nd in the event when competing on home soil at Tokyo 2020 - taking bronze.
Vladimer Tchintcharauli won the R9 mixed 50m rifle prone SH2 silver, the first-ever Paralympic shooting Para sport medal for Georgia.
Home hero
The crowd at Chateauroux Shooting Centre erupted, chanting his name, as Tanguy De La Forest won his first Paralympic gold, topping the podium in the R5 mixed 10m air rifle prone SH2 final.
"It is another beautiful day. A gold medal after a silver medal in the Paralympic Games in Paris. It is just amazing. It is better than a dream. It is just perfect," said De La Forest.
"We have a lot of pressure. I was concentrating on how I felt, not on the (scoreboard), and it was the best for me.
"Family, friends, all the French people here helped me to win. It was just amazing."
Earlier at Paris 2024, De La Forest won his first-ever Paralympic medal, silver in the R4 mixd 10m air rifle standing SH2.
Paris 2024 was the sixth Paralympic Games for the former CEO of the French Paralympic Committee, as he made his debut 20 years earlier at Athens 2004.
