32. Canada beat USA in semi-final at 2014 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championships
On 9 August, the USA was undefeated in pool play (5-0), and faced long time rival Canada in the semi-final for a chance to play for gold the following day. Canada was 4-1 going into the match after suffering a loss to Australia in pool play, and neither team had played each other since October of 2013, when the US dominated Canada (63-40) at the IWRF Americas Championship final. When the semi began the crowd was split as to who would win, but it was clear from the start that it was going to an exciting game. At the end of the first quarter the score was 14-14, and at the half it was 26-26. The USA ended the third quarter with a one point lead (40-39), which they held onto throughout the forth until Canada tied the score(54-54) with just 2 seconds left to go in the game. The USA was not able to score, which forced a three minute overtime period that Canada was able to dominate the last 90 seconds of. In the end Canada had beaten USA, 59-56, and had earned their spot in the Championship against Australia.
