Keith Gabel: We got special access to the top at Sochi

They gave us specially access to the top so we could get a birds eye view. Such a beautiful place. Keith Gabel - biography American Keith Gabel found a new passion when he was introduced to snowboarding in 2000. In 2005, Gabel was involved in an industrial accident; over 2,000 pounds of hydraulic pressure crushed his left foot. After a series of medical procedures the decision was made to amputate his left leg below the knee. Just three months later Gabel returned to his snowboard. Four years ago Gabel started training with the National Ability Centre in Utah. In his first international competition he reached the podium with a third place. In 2012 Gabel won the ESPN Winter X Games. Gabel also won the 2013 IPC Snowboarding World Cup event in Maribor. Gabel is an ambassadors for Team for Tomorrow, a humanitarian programme run through the United States Olympic Committee in which athletes offer assistance and support to communities in need through volunteerism and advocacy.
