When and where did you begin this sport?
He began practising athletics at age eight in Olot, Spain. He took up the sport more seriously at age 17.
Why this sport?
He was impressed after watching US athlete Carl Lewis compete at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. When his vision began to deteriorate, he decided he wanted to jump like Lewis.

Impairment
He was born with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic disorder of the eyes. "My biggest trauma was not being able to ride my motorcycle when I was 14. All of the kids in my town used to ride around. At the age of 16, when I lost almost all of my vision, I got depressed but I was lucky to have friends and family."
