When and where did you begin this sport?
He began swimming again after his accident in 2010.
Why this sport?
"In 2010 I faced my biggest fear, the water. [I wanted] to overcome any phobias [I had of] the water and the sea after my accident. [I wanted] to test if I could even swim, given my disability. The aim of this project was not only to overcome any unpleasant experience left by the water, but to combine swimming with a form of exercise and empowerment."
General interest
Awards and honours
In 2017 he was presented with a sports achievement award at the Amateur Sport Festival of Volos in Greece. The honour was in recognition of his sporting performances in 2016. (taxydromos.gr, 03 Mar 2017)
Impairment
In 2003, while at the beach in Voula, Greece, he dived into the water and struck his head on the sea floor. His injuries resulted in quadriplegia. (ex-dsathen.gr, 2017)
