She began training at age 20 in 2010 in Naberezhnye Chelny, Russia.
Why this sport?
Before her accident, she was an active child who studied dance from kindergarten onwards. She later played basketball and volleyball. "I couldn't sit still. I was always running somewhere." After the accident, she took up wheelchair dancing for her health and as a way to socialise.
