He took up the sport as a hobby and to have some achievements in athletics. "I was playing at a provincial football match, then an official from the Riau Paralympic Committee came to me and asked if I was interested to join the athletics team. So I tried it out - somehow I kept winning medals, then I finally decided to pursue a career out of it."

PARA CYCLING DEBUT
In December 2017, he decided to attend the national selection in Para cycling for the 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia. "This is new for me. I only practised riding for two days before the national selection. Surprisingly I got the call to join the national training camp in January 2018."
