The Europa Cup Speed Finals in Sella Nevea, Italy, which was scheduled to take place the first week of March, has been cancelled.

The decision to cancel the event came after the coronavirus outbreak in Italy, following 76 confirmed cases and a further 64 cases under investigation.

Dimitrije Lazarovski, Head of World Para Snow Sports, said:

“It is disappointing that the Europa Cup will be cancelled, but Italy is facing a public health issue with spread of coronavirus. The health of all the athletes is our biggest priority.”

Around 40 athletes from 10 nations were planned to be next week in Sella Nevea on the Europa Cup Finals for speed disciplines.

Para Snow Sports will continue activities, having events until 13 April when the season will close in Winter Park USA.
