Media accreditation opens for alpine World Cup

Media can now apply for accreditation to the 2013-14 IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup finals, which take place in Tarvisio, Italy, from 24-27 February, and will be the final competition ahead of Sochi 2014.

Media interested in covering the competition should contact the press office of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Tourism Board at press@turismo.fvg.it. Accommodation can be arranged through accomodation@sc2worldcup.com.

The finals are expected to draw around 100 athletes from nearly 15 countries and are the climax of the 2013-14 World Cup circuit.

IPC Director of Media and Communications, Craig Spence said:

“The World Cup finals are the absolute last opportunity for athletes to test themselves and assess their competition ahead of the looming Paralympic Winter Games.

“We expect some outstanding performances from some of the best skiers in the world, following on from a thrilling World Cup season where world and Paralympic champions have pitted their wits against new faces on the circuit.

“It is sure to be a great warm-up for Sochi 2014”.

The World Cup so far has seen countries such as the USA, France, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Japan, Australia, Russia and Canada, amongst others, win multiple podiums as they head towards Sochi 2014 which starts just days after Tarvisio 2014 on 7 March.

Entry to the bottom of the slope and finish line is free to the public. Lift passes will have to be purchased should spectators wish to gain access further up the course.
