French coach Mathieu Jeanne has been named Best Coach in the Para Sport Awards 2025 in recognition of the French Para cycling team’s outstanding performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Under Jeanne’s leadership, the French Para cycling achieved exceptional results: 28 medals (10 gold, 12 silver and six bronze) at Paris 2024, accounting for over a third of the host nation’s total medals at the Paralympic Games. His expertise spans handcycle, tandem bicycles, tricycles, and solo cycling, focusing on technical adaptation, sports science, and marginal gains.
Jeanne is a former Federation Francaise Handisport staff leader with a Master’s degree specialising in coaching Para sport. He began working in Para cycling in 2011 and supported France’s team at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. He rejoined the French national team in 2018 to drive performance improvements ahead of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Matthieu said: “This award is a recognition of all the hard work that has been done, because like athletes, coaches make many sacrifices and give their all.
“The athletes and staff are very happy for me, but as I told them, it’s thanks to them that I was able to win this award, because without all the teamwork that went into it, I would not have won this title, so it is also for them.”
The 2025 Para Sport Awards celebrate those whose efforts have contributed to strengthening the impact of Para sports worldwide. The Best Coach category recognises the achievements of a coach between 1 May 2023 to 31 March 2025.
