Para biathletes will have the stage all to themselves at their sport’s first standalone World Championships beginning 12 March in Ostersund, Sweden. Amid the 104 athletes expected, here are 12 to know:

MEN

Daniel Cnossen (USA) vs. Taras Rad (UKR)

Cnossen, Paralympic champion in the sprint discipline, also collected a pair of silver medals in PyeongChang to make for a career-best performance. But the sitting category also presents the theme of experience versus youth. Taras Rad had a strong Paralympic debut, winning gold in the middle distance, and went on to completely dominate in Prince George. The 20-year-old’s talent was known in 2017, when he finished runner-up in all three disciplines at the Worlds in Finsterau, Germany.
