There will be a contest to see who can break Ukraine’s stronghold in the women's standing category at the Para Biathlon World Championships in Ostersund, Sweden, from Thursday (12 March).

Here are the two main stars in the class.

Liudmyla Liashenko (UKR) vs. Oleksandra Kononova (UKR)

Ukraine occupied the top-five spots in last season’s overall World Cup standings, won by Oleksandra Kononova.

Having missed the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games and falling short of the top spots at last year's World Para Nordic Skiing Championships in Prince George, Kononova must feel in dire search for a major gold medal.

While she was second in the World Cup standings, Liudmyla Liashenko has showed up on the bigger stages, taking double bronze in PyeongChang followed by a clean sweep in Prince George.

Here you can find more about Liudmyla Liashenko.

Here you find more about Oleksandra Kononova.

Ostersund 2020 will be live on World Para Nordic Skiing website and World Para Snow Sports Facebook page.
