For the first time, the world famous Bolshoi Theatre will have wheelchair dancers on its stage to perform its newest programme “A Hero of Our Time,” which will premier Wednesday (22 July).

Russians Maksim Sedakovn – ranked No. 1 in the combi freestyle class 2 – Sergey Poiunov and Evgeny Gusev will dance with the Bolshoi Ballet, a world-renowned ballet company based in Moscow, Russia.

The Bolshoi Ballet company had contacted the Russian Wheelchair Dance Sport Federation at the end of May. By 3 June, IPC Wheelchair Dance Sport Technical Committee member Konstantin Vasilyev and Maksim spoke with Bolshoi to begin the first steps of the choreography.

All three dancers will play wounded soldiers in the three-act production, which is based on the popular Russian novel.
