As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. These 16 images from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games tell us so much about the competition, the emotion and jubilation.

We have narrowed down a list of our favourite photos from the Paralympics, and it was not easy.  Which is your favourite?

USA sprinter Hunter Woodhall triumphed in the men's 400m T62 and celebrated with wife Tara Davis-Woodhall who won Olympic long jump gold in the same Stade de France few weeks ago. With the next Paralympic and Olympic Games headed to Los Angeles in 2028, the golden couple is excited to welcome the world to the United States and compete on home soil.

Ecuador's Kiara Rodriguez sprinted to gold in the women's 100m T47 race at the Stade de France. Three days later, she won the women's long jump T47, collecting two of Ecuador's four medals at Paris 2024.

France's Djelika Diallo celebrated with her coach Haby Niare after defeating Tokyo 2020 Paralympic gold medallist Lisa Kjaer of Denmark in the women's K44 -65kg division at Grand Palais. The 19-year-old Para taekwondo athlete went on to capture the silver medal on her Paralympic debut.

Umut Unlu of Turkiye finished his debut Paralympic Games with two gold medals in Para swimming. Less than five years after taking up the sport, he topped the podium in the men's 50m and 200m freestyle S3 events at La Defense Arena.

India's Para archery sensation Sheetal Devi overcame the fear and pressure of competing at the Paralympic Games for the first time. Competing with her foot, she collected the bronze medal in the mixed compound team event for India's first Para archery medal of Paris 2024.

Sarah Adam, left, became the first-ever female wheelchair rugby player to compete for the USA at a Paralympics. She scored 13 tries in the USA's 50-43 semifinal win over defending Paralympic champions Great Britain at Champ-de-Mars Arena.

Brazil's Tayana Medeiros lifted 156kg in the women's up to 86kg final for her maiden Paralympic gold medal in Para powerlifting. She improved from her fifth-place finish at Tokyo 2020.

Japan's Tokito Oda became the youngest men's singles champion in wheelchair tennis. The 18-year-old athlete defeated Great Britain's Alfie Hewett 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in arguably one of the most dramatic Paralympic finals in wheelchair tennis history.

Aurelie Aubert became France's first gold medallist in boccia at Paris 2024 and shared the special moment with her coach and sport assistant Claudine Llop.

Hosts France secured gold in blind football after a 3-2 victory over Argentina  on penalties, with 41-year-old hero Frederic Villeroux scoring the winner in the shootout following a 1-1 draw in regular time. Under the bright lights of the Eiffel Tower, France became the second-ever nation to win Paralympic blind football gold.

Great Britain's Amy Truesdale celebrated winning her maiden Paralympic gold medal following her victory over Uzbekistan's Guljonoy Naimova in the Para taekwondo women's K44 +65kg final at the Grand Palais. One of the pioneers of the sport, Truesdale took bronze at Tokyo 2020 when Para taekwondo was included in the Paralympic sport programme for the first time.

Lara Baars of the Netherlands won the women's shot put F40 event for her second Paralympic medal and celebrated in front of a big crowd at the Stade de France. She took bronze in the event eight years ago in Rio.
