The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games delivered unforgettable moments, groundbreaking achievements, and powerful emotional highs, all taking place at stunning venues.
Each day, we highlight three standout moments from each sport that made these Games even more special.
In Para alpine skiing, athletes competed in a total of 30 medal events at Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre.
Top moment: Full throttle with Austrian siblings Veronika and Johannes Aigner
Austrian superstar siblings Veronika and Johannes Aigner won an impressive nine medals, including seven golds, on the Italian slopes.
At Beijing 2022 the Aigner siblings Veronika, Barbara, Johannes and sister Elisabeth (guide) won an epic nine medals, including four gold. At Milano Cortina 2026, Veronika and Johannes won seven golds in total.
Veronika claimed the first gold medal of the Games in the women's downhill vision impaired race. She followed up with titles in the giant slalom, slalom and alpine combined events as well as a silver in the super-G. She took a much-deserved bow after winning the slalom on 14 March.
Meanwhile, Johannes blitzed the field in the men's vision impaired category. He topped the podium in the downhill, giant slalom and super-G races, and took bronze in the alpine combined event.
Johannes praised his Italian rival Giacomo Bertagnolli for pushing him hard.
Bertagnolli, who won two gold, two silver and a bronze, led Italy's medal haul in Para alpine skiing. The hosts won 12 medals in total.
"It's some amusing rivalry we are having. It's a nice fight. He's so good, he really keeps us on our toes,” Johannes said.
“You want that in sport, you want to all get the best out of each other. It's interesting."

Rising star: Audrey Pascual Seco is tickled pink
Audrey Pascual Seco won Spain’s first Winter Paralympic gold medal in 12 years. Making her Paralympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026, she claimed two gold, a silver and a bronze in her hot pink sit-ski.
The 21-year-old athlete dazzled on the Italian slopes and channeled an inner calm.
“I just have to ski with the flow. I know how to ski, how to compete. I know what I have to do. I just ski with the flow," she said.
She arrived in Italy as one of the athletes to watch in Para alpine skiing, winning two silver medals at the World Championships and finishing on the podium 11 times on the World Cup circuit in the 2024/2025 season.

Surprise moment: Orange is the new gold - Jeroen Kampschreur steps up
Dutch skier Jeroen Kampschreur won three golds in the men's sitting category, bringing the iconic rivalry with Norway's Jesper Pedersen to a new level at Milano Cortina 2026.
"A hat-trick of golds at these Games, this is bizarre. This was the perfect way to finish it off, crazy really," Kampschreur said after winning the slalom, his final event.
"Italy has always been my favourite country to compete in, and to have the Games here is even better. To be able to show off exactly what I'm capable of and to win three golds is special, something I will remember forever."
Pedersen, who topped the podium in four of the five events at Beijing 2022, earned a gold, two silver and a bronze in Italy.
"Paralympics in Cortina has been an amazing experience from the start. It's just that atmosphere, the landscape and the crowd in the stands there. It's just so amazing," Pedersen said.
"It was a dream come true taking a gold in the downhill and of course being able to fight for the top spots in all disciplines has been really something I'm proud of. It's been so good."
In the women's standing category, Sweden's Ebba Aarsjoe dominated with three gold medals and a bronze.
Switzerland's Robin Cuche and France's Arthur Bauchet won two golds each in the men's standing category.
