Medals will be awarded in Para alpine skiing on Day 3. Here is everything you need to know.

Jesper Pedersen aims to make it two in a row

Para alpine skiers will shoot for the podium in all categories of the super-G event at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre. The women’s super-G vision impaired race will begin at 9:00 CET.

After winning four golds and a silver at Beijing 2022, Norway’s Jesper Pedersen is aiming to win five golds from five events. The 26-year-old topped the podium in the men’s downhill sitting race on 7 March, starting his campaign on a winning note.

Can he make it two out of two on Day 3?

“When you’re at your best, there’s always going to be some people wanting to beat you, so I have to develop myself to be able to stay at the top of the podium,” Pedersen said after his Day 1 victory.

Jeroen Kampschreur is Pedersen’s biggest rival, and the Dutch star is targeting his first medal of the Games. He crashed out of his downhill race on Day 1.

In the women’s sitting category, Japan’s “Queen of Winter”, Momoka Muraoka, aims to defend her title. Muraoka, who won three golds and a silver at Beijing 2022, withdrew from the first Para alpine skiing medal event on Day 1. She has not raced since November, when she broke her collarbone.

Hosts Italy aim for first Para ice hockey win of the Games

There will be four preliminary-round games at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena. Hosts Italy will face Beijing 2022 bronze medallists China in the first game of the day at 10:05.

On Day 1, Italy opened their campaign in front of a crowd of nearly 9,000 people, setting a new Paralympic record. The hosts opened the scoring against defending champions USA but lost 14–1.

“The first match today, as a home team was amazing. In the first period, when we were 1-0 (up) against the best team in the world, was unforgettable,” Italy forward Gianluigi Rosa said.

Can the Italian team pick up their first win of the Games and celebrate with the home crowd on Day 3?

Czechia will face Slovakia in Group B at 13:35 CET, followed by Germany vs USA and Japan vs Canada.

Wheelchair curling action continues

China has a perfect record with six wins from six in the round-robin stage in the inaugural mixed doubles tournament and will face the USA, who have won three and lost three so far in Cortina.

In the mixed team tournament, Canada, China and Sweden all have three wins from three after Day 2. In their second match, China beat hosts Italy. China will face 2024 world champions Norway at 18:35.
