The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has teamed up with The Official Insurer of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, Allianz, to produce an animated series that explains each of the six sports of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, offering fans a guide to the rules, techniques and classifications ahead of the event.

The Sport Explainer series, produced by Germany-based creative agency Kreatives, has been launched on the IPC website and the @Paralympics YouTube channel, as well as the Allianz website, and covers all six sports on the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic programme: Para alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboard and wheelchair curling.

This six-part series marks the second collaboration between the IPC and Allianz, a partner of the Paralympic Movement for 20 years, using animation to break down the complexities of Para sports. For the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the IPC and Allianz produced 22 animated explainer videos, which won multiple awards and contributed to record engagement across the IPC’s digital channels in 2024.

To date, the Paris 2024 Sport Explainer videos have accumulated more than 3 million views on the Paralympics YouTube channel alone. The series earned several accolades, including the 2024 Joseph Binder Awards for Animated Illustration, Lovie Awards for Best of Internet and the People’s Vote.

This year also marks the 20th anniversary of Allianz’s partnership with the IPC. The global insurance company went on to become the IPC’s first International Partner in 2011.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, which take place from 6-15 March, feature up to 665 Para athletes from around 50 National Paralympic Committees.

Allianz is also the Presenting Partner of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Torch Relay in Italy and the Paralympic Flame Lighting Ceremony in Stoke Mandeville, United Kingdom.
